Results vary
Photographic outcomes depend on far too many variables for anyone to promise a result. Nothing on this site guarantees that a lighting approach will suit your subject, that a focal length will flatter a particular face, that an exposure setting will be correct in your light, or that a technique described here will produce a picture you like. Where we describe what usually happens, we mean exactly that — what usually happens, not what will happen for you.
No career or income claims
We make no claims, direct or implied, about what reading this site will do for anyone's photography business, client list, follower count or income. We do not sell training, mentoring or services, and we do not present any reader outcome as typical or expected.
Equipment and brands
Where a category of equipment is mentioned — a camera body, a lens, a reflector, a flash unit, a raw converter or a cataloguing app — it is for illustration only. We do not certify, endorse or warrant any product. Specifications, behaviour and menu layouts change between models and between firmware versions. Always read the manufacturer's own documentation for your particular device.
Safety on location
Photography can involve electrical equipment, hot lights, tripods in public walkways, ladders, roadsides, water, weather and private property. Nothing here is a safety standard. You are responsible for assessing the risks of your own shoot, obtaining any permissions or permits required where you are working, and following the rules of the venue and the law in your jurisdiction. If in doubt, engage a qualified professional.
Photographing people and places
Model releases, property releases, consent for photographing minors, restrictions on photography in particular buildings or public spaces, and the rules that apply to publishing or selling an image of an identifiable person all vary widely by country and by state. Nothing on this site is legal advice on any of those matters. Consult a qualified adviser where you are.
